European Commissioner: Gaza’s needs remain urgent, crossings must be reopened and aid routes secured
BRUSSELS, April 23 (YPA) – The European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Haja Habib, stressed on Thursday that humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip remain urgent, calling for the reopening and securing of all entry points and aid routes to ensure unimpeded access for relief.
Habib explained in a post on the “X” platform that the European Union and its partners continue to support the Palestinians, noting the delivery of more than 1,600 blankets and 220 family tents to Gaza in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
Since October 7, 2023, with American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has been committing genocide, imposing a siege, and starving the Gaza Strip for more than two consecutive years.
Consequently, the death toll of Israeli aggression on Gaza has reached 72,568 Palestinian civilian martyrs, most of them children and women, and 172,338 wounded. This is not a final count, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue teams.
