Meteorology issues heatwave, flood warnings as temperatures soar across Yemen

SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning on Friday issued warnings over hot to extremely hot conditions expected across desert regions and coastal plains in Yemen.

In its latest bulletin, the center also cautioned residents in areas forecast to receive rainfall against being in flood channels or attempting to cross valleys during and after rainfall.

Weather outlook for the next 24 hours:

Highlands: Partly cloudy skies with chances of moderate rain, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, over parts of Saada, Amran, Hajjah, and Mahweet, with lighter rainfall expected in Sanaa, Dhamar, and Rayma.

Coastal areas: Generally clear to partly cloudy and hot, particularly along the Tihama plain, with temperatures ranging between 37–40°C and moderate to active winds reaching 10–20 knots.

Desert regions: Hot conditions prevail, with temperatures between 35–38°C, accompanied by moderate winds that may become active at times, causing dust and sand disturbances.
