Police arrest about 50 people participated in pro-Palestine demonstration in New York

NEW YORK, April. 14 (YPA) – New York police arrested about 50 people, on Monday evening, during a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Manhattan protesting US military support for Israel.

The demonstration, called for by Jewish Voice for Peace, witnessed participation of 200 people. They blocked a major street for about an hour before security forces intervened to disperse them.

The protesters headed to the vicinity of the offices of Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand to express their disapproval of their vote against a bill aimed at preventing US arms sales to Israel.

In addition, the participants raised banners and chanted slogans demanding an end to military support in light of the ongoing war.

It is noteworthy that police said the arrests were made after some protesters refused to comply with orders to clear the road for traffic, and they were charged with obstructing traffic and disobeying security orders.
