EUROPE, April 14 (YPA) – A popular petition calling for the full suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement has surpassed the one-million-signature mark in just three months, officially meeting the legal threshold for formal consideration by the European Commission.
The petition reached 1,007,331 signatures as of early Tuesday morning. The initiative has met the minimum requirements in at least 7 member states, compelling the European Commission to take formal action.
The campaign reflects mounting public outrage across Europe over the “war of genocide” in Gaza, systematic human rights violations, and the use of starvation as a weapon of war.
“Maintaining this partnership is a fundamental contradiction to declared European values, particularly in light of the failure to comply with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) orders,” the petition organizers stressed.
The organizers have urged the European Commission to submit a formal proposal to the European Council to suspend the agreement immediately, asserting that EU citizens will no longer accept the legitimization or indirect funding of a state accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
