Rezaei: The end of the ceasefire must not lead to its extension

TEHRAN, April 14 (YPA) – Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, said on Tuesday that the expiration of the current ceasefire should not lead to its extension.

In a post on the “X” platform, Rezaei called for any political process to be accompanied by a clear recognition of Iran’s rights, including its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, warning that failure to recognize these rights would lead to a return to war.

He warned that failing to secure Iran’s demands would mean the continuation of war by the United States and Israeli entity.

He also warned against using the ceasefire period to reignite tensions or rebuild military capabilities, arguing that the absence of recognition of Iran’s rights would necessitate ending the truce.

In this context, Pakistani officials have proposed hosting a second round of talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad in the coming days, according to the Associated Press.
