ADEN, April 01 (YPA) – Dozens of protesters loyal to the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC) succeeded on Wednesday in breaking through a military cordon imposed by Saudi-backed forces in Aden, regaining control over three key headquarters in the Tawahi district.
Field sources reported that crowds arriving from various districts and neighboring governorates managed to reopen the offices of the “National Assembly, the Foreign Affairs Authority, and the General Secretariat.” These facilities had been under the control of pro-Riyadh forces since last February.
Immediately following the takeover, the Council’s “General Secretariat” held an expanded meeting, affirming the continuation of its organizational operations under the leadership of Aidarus al-Zubaidi and praising what it described as the “popular role in defying arbitrary decisions.”
This field escalation comes amid lingering ambiguity regarding al-Zubaidi’s whereabouts since the beginning of the year. Observers view these moves as a “pulse check” that could signal a new round of military and political confrontation in the city, following Riyadh’s announcement of the Council’s dissolution last January.
