ZURICH, March 20 (YPA) – FIFA has fined the Israel Football Association (IFA) 150,000 Swiss francs (about $190,700) for “repeated violations” of its anti-discrimination obligations.
The disciplinary committee report explained that the punishment came as a result of the Israeli Football Association’s failure to deter the systematic racist behavior of Beitar Jerusalem fans, including chanting anti-Arab slogans and using racist slogans.
The investigation was opened based on a complaint filed by the Palestinian Football Association in October 2024. While the committee found that the Israeli Football Association had violated FIFA’s statutory objectives, it did not move to suspend its membership as the Palestinian side had requested, settling instead for a financial penalty.
