Mass Resignation of pro-Saudi military leaders in Aden

ADEN, March 19 (YPA) – Four of the most prominent leaders of the Saudi-funded Salafist “Al- Amaliqa or Giants Brigades” have abruptly announced their resignations, confirming their outright refusal to travel to Saudi Arabia to take part in the so-called “South–South dialogue.”

The list of those who resigned included several high-profile figures, most notably Abdul Fattah al-Saadi, commander of the “Third Giants Brigade” and deputy to forces commander Abdulrahman al-Muharrami. Also among them were Raed al-Habhi, commander of the First Brigade; Nizar al-Wajih, commander of the Fourth Brigade; and Abdulrahman al-Jaari, commander of the so-called Fifth Brigade.

According to available information, these collective resignations coincided with the leaders’ earlier refusal to relocate to Saudi Arabia last January—a move that, according to sources, reflected a Saudi effort to restructure these factions while simultaneously bolstering the “Dera al-Watan” formations.

In a related development, informed sources reported that the resigned leaders departed for the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, following Saudi airstrikes targeting elements of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council” in Hadramout.

The sources added that the leaders left Aden behind, creating both administrative and operational gaps, particularly amid the suspension of fighters’ salaries by Saudi Arabia and the continued detention of several southern leaders in Riyadh for the third consecutive month.
