Several countries reject Trump’s call for coalition to reopen Hormuz Strait

SANAA, March 16 (YPA) – Media reports revealed on Monday that eight countries have so far rejected a request by US President Donald Trump to participate in measures aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

China and France stressed in their responses the importance of resolving differences with Tehran through diplomatic means, while Britain and Japan rejected the request outright. South Korea said the proposal remains under review and requires further consultations before any decision is made.

Germany, Italy and Australia also announced they do not intend to join the coalition Trump is seeking to form, emphasizing that any military action must consider international frameworks and regional security, and avoid steps that could trigger wider escalation.

Several US allies have also expressed reservations about Washington’s current approach toward Iran, saying the conflict was not initiated with their consent and warning that involvement could carry serious political and military consequences.
