We do not mind participating in Geneva talks: Ansaruallah member

SANAA, Aug. 4 (YPA) – A member of the Political Bureau of Ansaruallah said on Saturday that the movement does not mind participating in the talks scheduled for September in the Swiss capital, Geneva.

“Ansaruallah do not mind conducting such consultations… to reach a general framework for the negotiations,” said Salim al-Mughalis, the political bureau member, in an interview with AFP.

“We do not mind traveling to any neutral country, not from the aggression (Saudi-led coalition) countries, to conduct such consultations,” he added.

Al-Mughalis expressed doubts about the results of these consultations, because as he said “the aggression countries have not a real and serious trend towards any political solutions.”

“We deal with any initiative as a duty, and in order to not provide any pretext for this aggression,” he added.

The UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, told the UN Security Council on Thursday evening that the United Nations intends to invite the warring parties in the country to Geneva on September 6 to discuss a framework for peace negotiations.

He told the Security Council that a peaceful solution “to end the war in Yemen is possible.”

The United Nations has been trying to resume peace talks since the coalition launched in last June an attack on the Red Sea city of Hodeidah, led by the UAE, the main partner in the coalition, with the participation of armed militias from the southern provinces.

The majority of aid and commercial goods and food needs enter through the port of Hodeidah to millions of the people across the country, while the coalition considers the port a conduit for smuggling weapons and attacking ships in the Red Sea.
