BEIRUT, March 14 (YPA) – Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem affirmed on Friday that the battle being waged by the resistance comes within the framework of the legitimate defense of Lebanon in the face of Zionist aggression, which poses an existential threat to the region.
in a speech on the occasion of International Quds Day, Qassem explained that the decision to respond to the Israeli occupation was not hasty, noting that the “Israeli” attacks continued for about 15 months, while the party leadership held several meetings to assess the appropriate timing for a response, while giving repeated opportunities to the political track at the request of international parties.
He added that recent developments, including the aggression against Iran and the martyrdom of the nation’s leader, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, in addition to the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, have led the resistance to consider that the conditions are now suitable for confronting and weakening the enemy.
Qassem pointed out that the ongoing confrontation comes under the name of the “Al-Asf al-Ma’kul” battle, stressing that it is a purely Lebanese battle aimed at defending Lebanon in light of the government’s inability to protect sovereignty and citizens.
In a message to the Lebanese government, Qassem called for an end to gratuitous concessions in the negotiations, warning that their continuation prolongs the war and increases the enemy’s greed, and stressing the need to unify the internal ranks to confront the aggression.
He also affirmed that the resistance is ready for a long battle, noting that its fighters possess the will and full readiness to confront the occupation, and that its strength is based on faith, righteousness, and military preparedness.
Qassem responded to the threats made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assassinate him, stressing that these threats are worthless, adding that Israeli and American aggression is the reason for what is happening in Lebanon, and that the resistance represents a response to this aggression.
