Pakistan: Several injured in attempted storming of US consulate in Karachi following Khamenei’s assassination
KARACHI, March 01 (YPA) – Violent clashes erupted in Karachi between security forces and angry demonstrators attempting to storm the US Consulate in protest against the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei by US-Israeli airstrikes.
Medical and security sources reported casualties, including at least five injured individuals, after security forces used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse the crowds.
The protesters had pelted the consulate building with stones and shattered several windows in an attempt to breach the diplomatic compound.
Authorities set up a tight security cordon involving police and “Rangers” paramilitary forces, while closing major surrounding roads to contain the escalating tension and ensure the safety of the mission.
