Meteorology warns cold weather targeting mountainous highlands

SANAA, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecast on Wednesday continued cold to very cold weather in the mountainous highlands and inland plateaus in several provinces of Yemen.

In its latest bulletin, the center predicted the cold conditions would target Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, Ibb heights, Lahj, Dhale, southern Marib, and western Jawf, with possible frost in some areas.

Colder weather may also affect the highlands of Abyan, as well as the plateaus and deserts of Shabwa and Hadramout.

The center urges citizens, particularly the elderly, children, and those with health conditions in the western highlands and interior plateaus, to prepare for the extreme chill. Farmers should protect crops, and travelers to cold areas must take precautions against cold shocks.
