STC supporters rally against Saudi policies in Aden, Mukalla

ADEN/MUKALLA, Feb. 10 (YPA) – The cities of Aden and Mukalla witnessed a new wave of field escalation on Tuesday as hundreds of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) supporters held protest rallies.

The demonstrators expressed their rejection of what they termed “Saudi hegemony” in the southern regions.

In Aden, a protest march kicked off from the “Al-Safina” roundabout in the al-Mansoura district. Participants chanted slogans opposing Saudi policies, with reports indicating arrangements for further escalatory activities in the coming days.

In Mukalla, Hadramout governorate, the STC supporters began mobilizing for similar demonstrations. Meanwhile, security authorities in Hadramout issued strict warnings against damaging public property or insulting “sisterly nations,” a clear reference to preventing the recurrence of incidents involving the defacing of images of Saudi leadership.

This escalation comes amid cooling relations between local factions and the Saudi-led coalition.

Diplomats have noted that the STC leadership’s renewed political maneuvering is complicating Saudi efforts within the Yemeni file. Observers suggest that the expanding scope of protests reflects growing public dissatisfaction with the Saudi role in the southern and eastern governorates.
