Pentagon ends military programs with Harvard due to pro-Palestinian bias

WASHINGTON, Feb. 07 (YPA) – The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Friday that it would sever its ties with Harvard University, ending all military training programs, fellowships, and certificate courses.

The move marked a new chapter in the ongoing standoff between the Trump administration and the university over White House demands for institutional reforms, according to The Associated Press.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed the decision on the social media platform X, stating: “Harvard University understands; the Department of Defense does not.” He clarified that, beginning with the 2026–2027 academic year, all professional military education programs at the graduate level, as well as all fellowship and certificate programs for active-duty personnel, will be discontinued.

Hegseth added that the policy will apply to future enrollments, while current participants will be allowed to complete their studies.

The Pentagon also indicated plans to establish similar partnerships with other universities in the coming weeks.

The step came amid a broader campaign by the Trump administration targeting several prominent U.S. universities, including Harvard, over issues such as pro-Palestinian protests and other topics the administration has deemed controversial, including responses to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
