Khamenei warns of “regional war” if US attacks Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 01 (YPA) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Sunday of a “regional war” if the United States attacked after Washington’s recent military build-up in the Gulf.

In a meeting with a crowd of Iranian citizens, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Iran will not start any war, nor does it want to attack any country, but the Iranian people will deliver a powerful blow to anyone who attacks them.”

He pointed out that “Talk of war and military mobilization against us is nothing new, and Iran has faced such events historically.”

“The Americans claim all options are on the table, including war, and US President Donald Trump constantly declares about sending warships to the region, but this approach does not frighten the Iranian people; our people do not fear such threats,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the recent sedition was suppressed and was more like a military coup aimed at destroying sensitive and influential centers in the administration of the country. This is why they attacked the police, government centers, Revolutionary Guard centers, banks, and mosques, and burned the Quran.
