ABYAN, Jan. 30 (YPA) – An unidentified reconnaissance drone crashed, on Friday, in a mountainous area of Al-Wadi’a district in the central Abyan governorate of southern Yemen.
Local sources reported that the drone was flying over the district before suddenly crashing into a valley, raising questions about its affiliation and the missions it was carrying out.
The sources suggested that the drone belonged to UAE-backed factions, indicating the possibility that it was conducting espionage and reconnaissance missions in the area, without reporting any wreckage.
They pointed out that the drone crash comes a few days after US airstrikes targeted elements believed to belong to al-Qaeda in Wadi Ubaidah district, east of Marib city, which is controlled by Islah Party and forces loyal to the coalition.
