BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 11 (YPA) – Large-scale Forest fires that swept through areas in Argentina and affected about 4 thousand hectares of land, had sparked widespread controversy following allegations that Zionist tourists were involved in deliberately igniting them.
The Spanish newspaper El Periódico said that the fires that spread in several Argentine regions were suspected that some Zionist tourists from the occupied Palestinian territories were deliberately behind their outbreak.
According to the newspaper, these people headed to forested areas and set them on fire before fleeing, noting that the Argentine authorities are continuing their investigations to identify and arrest suspects.
It revealed that the fires caused the destruction of almost 4 thousand hectares of land, while about 3 thousand people were evacuated from their areas as a precautionary measure to preserve their safety.
Fire and emergency teams are still continuing suppression and cooling operations, amid intensive efforts to fully control the fires and prevent their spread to new areas.
