ISLAMABAD, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Pakistani security forces killed 11 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Saturday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said that the security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district on Thursday following reports about the presence of militants in the area.
In another operation conducted jointly by police and security forces in Kurram district, five militants were killed in a separate gunfight, the ISPR added.
The ISPR said sanitisation efforts were under way to clear the area of any remaining threats, adding that counterterrorism operations would continue with full momentum.
The ISPR statement reaffirmed that the ongoing campaign, being pursued under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, aims to eliminate “foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism” from the country.
