STC militias abduct YASPC Chairman in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Jan. 02 (YPA) -The UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC)  militias kidnapped Salem Ali Basamer Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation (YASPC), and took him to an unknown location under mysterious circumstances, amid widespread public and official discontent, sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

The sources confirmed that investigations are still underway, noting that this act falls within a series of crimes and violations committed by the STC militias against national cadres and prominent figures in the province.

The sources explained that the STC militia’s resort to such criminal acts, ambushes, and abductions came as a hysterical reaction following the recent decisions of Rashad Al-Alimi , head of the Presidential Leadership Council and Saudi pressure that resulted in their expulsion from Hadramout province and the handing over of their positions to the Saudi-backed  “Dera Al-Watan” forces.

Observers believe that the abduction of Basmeir — a national figure who heads an important sovereign institution, is intended to destabilize the areas under their control and disrupt operations at vital ports.

They also see it as threatening messages to anyone who complies with state decisions and legitimacy in confronting Abu Dhabi-backed sabotage tools.
