4 Members of “Presidential Council” reject Al-Alimi’s “unilateral” decisions, affirm partnership with UAE
ADEN, Dec. 30 (YPA) – Four members of Presidential Leadership Council loyal to Saud-led coalition —Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Faraj Al-Bahsani, and Tareq Saleh—issued a joint statement on Tuesday expressing grave concern over what they described as “unilateral actions” taken by the Council’s President Rashad Al-Alimi.
The members formally rejected Al-Alimi’s recent decrees, including the declaration of a state of emergency and the issuance of “dangerous” political and security characterizations. They argued that these moves explicitly violate “the power transfer declaration,” which mandates that the Council function as a collective body with decisions made through consensus or a majority.
The statement further emphasized that no single individual or entity within the Council has the authority to terminate the role of any member of the Arab Coalition. The signatories praised the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a “strategic partner in the fight against Houthi forces and terrorism,” warning that any attempt to undermine this partnership serves only Yemen’s enemies.
Holding Al-Alimi fully responsible for the potential political and security consequences, the four members called for an immediate return to consensus-based governance to prevent further national division.
This comes against the backdrop of Al-Alimi’s call for the UAE to leave Yemen and withdraw from the Arab coalition (Saudi-led coalition) in Yemen, and the declaration of a state of emergency, as well as circulating news about a Saudi request for the UAE to evacuate its forces from Yemen within 24 hours, information that has not yet been officially confirmed.
