Saudi Arabia issues 24-hour ultimatum for UAE troop withdrawal from Yemen amid escalating tensions

RIYADH, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially demanded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours, in a major escalation of the ongoing conflict between the two primary Gulf allies.

This unprecedented move follows direct accusations from Riyadh against Abu Dhabi for providing military support to the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias.

Furthermore, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed deep regret over what it described as UAE-driven pressure on the STC to conduct military operations in the provinces of Hadramout and Mahra.

In a stern warning, Riyadh reaffirmed its commitment to Yemen’s stability and sovereignty, emphasizing that any threat to Saudi national security constitutes a “red line” that the Kingdom will not hesitate to defend by all necessary means.

This diplomatic rift coincides with a significant military escalation in southeastern Yemen. According to reports, Saudi warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the Port of Mukalla, destroying military equipment recently delivered by two Emirati vessels to STC forces in Hadramout. Saudi officials justified these actions by stating that the UAE’s recent moves are inconsistent with the founding principles of the “Coalition to Restore Legitimacy.”

In light of these rapid developments, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, has taken decisive administrative action. Al-Alimi declared a nationwide state of emergency for 90 days, effective this Tuesday. Additionally, a total air and land blockade has been imposed on all ports and border crossings for a period of 72 hours, signaling a critical turning point in the Yemeni crisis.
