JEDDAH, Dec. 28 (YPA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), along with more than 20 Arab and Islamic nations—including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Iran—issued a joint statement declaring their categorical rejection of Israeli recognition of the “Somaliland” region.
The signatories condemned the move in the strongest terms, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter, which mandates respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
The statement reaffirmed absolute support for the Federal Republic of Somalia in maintaining its internationally recognized borders against any actions aimed at undermining its unity.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized a firm rejection of any attempts to link this recognition to schemes for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people. It asserted that such projects are rejected in both form and substance, as they fundamentally contradict international legitimacy and global resolutions.
The statement considered the Israeli move as an assault on Somali unity and a breach of international conventions.
