Pope Leo XIV: “Gaza’s tent tragedy is a moral indictment of the international community”

VATICAN, Dec. 25 (YPA) – Pope Leo XIV has issued a sharp rebuke of global silence regarding the displacement crisis in Gaza Strip, describing the plight of Palestinian families stranded in tents amidst freezing cold and rain as a catastrophic moral and humanitarian failure.

In his Christmas address this Thursday, the Pope condemned the ongoing suffering of Palestinian civilians despite the ceasefire agreement enacted last October, emphasizing that restricted aid and continued blockades are worsening the disaster.

These powerful remarks from the first American Pope highlight the devastating aftermath of the Israeli occupation aggression, which has left over 240,000 dead and wounded and a widespread famine threatening the lives of women and children across the war-torn Strip since October, 2023.
