Pro-UAE commander refuses to hand over “Al-Khasha” camp in Hadramout to Saudi-backed forces
HADRAMOUT, Dec. 24 (YPA) – The commander of the “Fifth Support and Reinforcement Brigade” of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Mukhtar al-Nubi, announced on Wednesday his forces’ refusal to hand over the 37th Brigade camp in the Al-Khasha area of Al-Abr district to the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces.
In a video statement recorded from within the camp on Wednesday, Al-Nubi affirmed that his troops are maintaining their positions in the Hadramout province, denying reports of a withdrawal.
Al-Nubi described the recent takeover of sites previously held by the First Military Region as a “historic achievement.” Additionally, he accused the former controlling forces of conducting “organized looting” of oil resources, citing the discovery of private refining units found inside the facility.
These field developments come amid heightened security tensions in Hadramout province, reflecting an ongoing struggle for influence among local and regional actors over strategic border and oil-rich regions in eastern Yemen.
