SANAA, Dec. 22 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality Control warned on Monday against an American-made infant formula marketed under the brand name ByHeart.
In a statement, the authority said that it had found ByHeart product to be contaminated with dangerous bacterium Clostridium botulinum, posing serious health risks and the possibility of food poisoning in children.
The statement clarified that the warning came within the framework of its supervisory role to preserve the health and safety of consumers, stressing that American products are considered a boycott and their entry into the Yemeni market is banned.
It added that it would continue to monitor the markets and take the necessary measures to protect the health of children and consumers, urging traders and retailers to comply with regulations and refrain from selling any non-compliant or unidentified products.
