Israeli occupation forces commit nine new ceasefire violations in Gaza

GAZA, Dec.04 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces carried out nine new violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip early Thursday, according to Palestinian officials.

The ceasefire went into effect on October 10, though there have been numerous violations since. Today it enters its 55th day

Palestinian sources reported that five Palestinians, including two children, were killed overnight when Israeli military drones struck tents sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said the civilians killed in the Khan Younis attack “were not inside a combat zone, but in a displacement camp designated as a safe area under previous instructions.”

In eastern Khan Younis, Israeli artillery shelled areas inside the “yellow line,” accompanied by heavy gunfire from tanks and other military vehicles, witnesses said. Sources also reported an airstrike in the area at dawn on Thursday.

Residents in northern Rafah said Israeli armored vehicles opened fire in several locations early Thursday morning.

Separately, the occupation forces detonated buildings in eastern Gaza City, in conjunction with an airstrike in the area, while an Apache helicopter opened fire east of the city, according to local sources.

Palestinian sources said another airstrike hit an area inside the “yellow line” in northern Gaza, accompanied by artillery shelling of eastern Gaza City.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that, since the ceasefire began, the total number of Palestinians killed has risen to 360, with 922 wounded, in addition to 617 bodies recovered from various areas.

According to the ministry, the overall death toll in Gaza since the start of Israel’s military genocide on 7 October 2023 has reached 70,117, with 170,999 people wounded.
