Al-Huraizi: Mahra residents’ suffering doubled, services collapsed since entry of “foreign forces” in 2017
MAHRA, Nov. 12 (YPA) – Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Huraizi, head of the Sit-in Committee opposing foreign forces in Mahra Governorate, eastern Yemen, confirmed that Mahra “is paying the price for its firm stance on national sovereignty,” indicating that the suffering of its people has significantly increased.
Speaking at a committee meeting, Al-Huraizi stated that the collapse of basic services (such as electricity, water, and health), the interruption of salaries, and the deterioration of living conditions began with the arrival of the “foreign forces” at the end of 2017.
Al-Huraizi also criticized the policies of strangling citizens by closing the Nishton port and raising customs duties at border crossings (Shahin and Sarfit), which led to trade stagnation and a rise in prices.
He called for empowering the people of Mahra to manage their resources, ports, and sources of income in accordance with the order and law, and to direct revenues to serve the health, education, and general service sectors.
Sheikh Al-Huraizi stressed Mahra’s rejection of the “policy of subjugating them to foreign occupation and its tools.”
