In video: civilian killed, seven wounded in Abyan clashes

ABYAN, 10 (YPA) – One civilian was killed and seven others were wounded in armed clashes that erupted Monday afternoon in the central vegetable market of Jaar, a city in the Saudi-led coalition-held Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Local sources in the city said the clashes broke out between influential figures using various types of light and medium weapons due to a dispute over the collection of fees at the fish market.

The sources indicated that the wounded were transferred to hospitals in Aden, amid reports that one of them died before reaching the hospital.

They added that the clashes caused widespread panic and fear among residents in neighborhoods surrounding the market.

Meanwhile, women and female students from Jaar schools held a protest rally in the courtyard of Al-Khansa School, condemning the deteriorating security situation and the escalating unrest between the conflicting parties, which is now threatening the lives of civilians and disrupting education.

The rally demanded that security be provided and that weapons be banned within the city, stressing that they wish to continue their education in a safe and stable environment, away from the atmosphere of fear and clashes that have become frequent during school hours.
