Israeli occupation continues to violate truce, shells homes in Khan Younis

GAZA, Nov. 07 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces on Friday carried out extensive demolition and destruction operations targeting residential homes in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

This coincided with heavy artillery shelling aimed at the eastern areas of the city. This escalation constitutes a new and serious breach of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 10.

Local Palestinian sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces detonated several residential buildings amid intermittent artillery shelling that struck eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis. These actions sparked a state of panic and fear among residents who have been living for weeks under severely harsh humanitarian conditions.

Persistent Violations Despite Truce Agreement

The recent shelling and demolition are part of multiple, documented violations of the ceasefire agreement, which had ended an Israeli aggression lasting nearly two years. Despite the truce, Palestinian authorities have documented dozens of Israeli breaches over the past weeks, including raids, shelling, and direct targeting of civilians west of the “Yellow Line,” resulting in hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

The Israeli occupation army currently maintains control over more than half of the Gaza Strip’s territory after withdrawing to what is known as the “Yellow Line.” This line separates the areas under its control to the east from the areas where Palestinians are permitted to move to the west.

Toll of the Previous Aggression

It is noteworthy that the previous Israeli aggression, which began on October 7, 2023, and lasted approximately two years, resulted in a tragic toll:

  • The martyrdom of over 68,000 Palestinians.
  • Injuring more than 170,000 others.
  • The destruction of nearly 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the Strip, including hospitals, schools, and water and electricity networks.
