SHABWA, Nov. 06 (YPA) – The educational process in several Yemeni governorates under the Saudi-led coalition’s control has entered an unprecedented crisis, following school closures and a sharp escalation of comprehensive strikes.
This deterioration stems from the interruption of salaries for teachers and educators for the fifth consecutive month.
Filmed scenes showed the closure of the “Ataq Al-Muwahhada” school in Shabwa governorate, where schools entered a full-scale strike on Wednesday in protest against the delayed salary payments.
The crisis’s impact was not limited to strikes; desperation has pushed a number of teachers to seek other jobs or join armed factions funded by Saudi Arabia and the UAE for a meager monthly wage.
The strike was met with a wave of widespread anger among parents and students, who held the pro-coalition government and local authorities fully responsible for the collapse of the educational process.
Parents and students are demanding the prompt disbursement of financial entitlements to teachers and the provision of a stable educational environment, warning that the salary cuts have become a “ticking time bomb destroying the social structure.”
