WASHINGTON, Nov. 06 (YPA) – Democratic leaders in the US Congress sent an urgent letter to President Donald Trump demanding that he convene an emergency meeting of bipartisan lawmakers to address the government shutdown and healthcare crisis together.
The letter, signed by Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives and the Senate, Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, reads: “We demand an urgent meeting of bipartisan legislative leaders to end the Republican-led federal government shutdown and decisively address the healthcare crisis caused by the Republicans.”
The letter is dated November 5, 2025, and was written on official US House of Representatives letterhead. It was published on the X platform, according to the Russian Sputnik Agency.
The US federal government has been shut down since October 1, due to the inability of Republicans and Democrats in Congress to pass a government funding bill.
House Speaker Mike Johnson had previously warned that the country’s economy would lose tens of billions of dollars if the situation did not change before November 1.
