Dignity Movement’s head taken to notorious prison at Ataq Airport

SHABWA, Nov. 05 (YPA) – The UAE-backed armed factions have taken Saleh bin Dabi al-Qumayshi, head of the Dignity Movement of the al-Wahidi tribes, to a notorious secret prison inside the Emirati forces-held Ataq Airport, immediately after his abduction, local sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

This followed escalating tribal protests demanding his release.

The sources explained that the location of al-Qumayshi’s detention was revealed after a large tribal meeting held by the Laqmoush tribes last Sunday to discuss how to respond to the abduction of the leader of the peaceful movement of the al-Wahidi tribes, a region rich in natural resources.

The abduction came after threats issued by al-Qumayshi in mid-July to the UAE-backed authorities, when he announced the establishment of what he called the “Independent Balhaf Governorate” in response to the marginalization of the al-Wahidi tribes’ demands for their rights.

Saleh bin Dabi al-Qumayshi, head of the Dignity Movement of the al-Wahidi tribes, has been held for 11 days since his abduction in Shabwa province by the UAE-funded factions.
