Sheikh Naim Qassem rejects any guardianship over Lebanese decision-making

BEIRUT, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem affirmed on Tuesday his absolute rejection of any foreign tutelage over Lebanese decision-making.

Sheikh Naim Qassem called on Lebanese officials to be subservient to the Lebanese government for the benefit of the people and citizens.

He emphasized that Lebanon should not be a prison or subservient to the Washington administration.

Sheikh Qassem asked: Are the Minister of Justice or the Governor of the Central Bank employees of the US administration in this prison?

During his speech at the launch of the book “Singing and Music – Research by Imam Khamenei”, Sheikh Qassem criticized the performance of some Lebanese officials, saying, “The Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon is not an employee of America to restrict citizens’ money, calling on the government to put an end to these practices.”

“The Minister of Justice is not a judicial officer for America or the Israeli entity,” he added, calling for an end to the restrictions on citizens’ official transactions.

Sheikh Qassem emphasized that the government is responsible for reconstruction, urging it to initiate the necessary executive measures to achieve this, free from foreign dictates.

Hezbollah’s Secretary-General called on the Lebanese government to shoulder its national responsibilities in protecting the country’s sovereignty and to act “in a proper manner that guarantees the interests of the Lebanese people and preserves Lebanon’s independence and dignity.”

He emphasized that Lebanon’s stability would be achieved by keeping Israeli hand off it, explaining that Lebanon cannot give “Israel” or America what they wanted as long as it had a proud people who had made great sacrifices.

Sheikh Qassem clarified the necessity of Lebanon remaining sovereign, free, dignified, independent, strong, and capable. He believed that “Israel” does not want to implement the agreement or end the conflict between it and Lebanon, because it seeks to swallow Lebanon and eliminate its existence.

“Anyone who thinks that disarming Hezbollah will end the problem is mistaken, because these weapons are part of Lebanon’s strength, and they do not want Lebanon to be strong,” he added. “We are not affected by threats, and everyone must implement the agreement. Lebanon has committed to it.”
