Sanaa negotiator: ‘Navigation, int’l trade in Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandab safe’

SANAA, Sept, 10 (YPA) – Head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation Mohammed Abdul Salam affirmed on Thursday that freedom of navigation and the movement of international trade in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab are safe and regular, stressing that the ongoing Yemeni operations pose no threat to them.

In a statement, Abdul Salam explained that the actions carried out by Sanaa forces in some coastal areas are part of a national operation to assert Yemeni sovereignty and address challenges and ambitions threatening civil peace.

He stressed that the current operations have limited and specific targets, as previously announced, and are defensive in nature.

The Sanaa negotiator affirmed that the Republic of Yemen has no ambitions toward neighboring countries or other Arab and Islamic states, and has not attacked any country. Rather, he said, Yemen has been subjected to aggression in a manner inconsistent with Arab and Islamic brotherhood.

Abdul Salam renewed his assertion that genuine, just and honorable peace has been and will remain Sanaa’s strategic choice, calling on all parties to recognize that choosing peace with Yemen is the least costly option and the shortest path toward restoring relations on the basis of good-neighborliness, mutual respect and shared interests.

He noted that the current operations will cease once the aggression against Yemen ends and the blockade is lifted.
