Theft of military truck from base near Gaza reveals serious security gaps in Israeli occupation army

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Hebrew 12 Channel revealed, on Tuesday, an incident described as a “serious security lapse” within the Israeli occupation army, after a military truck was stolen from one of its bases near the Gaza Strip, without any intrusion or exit of the vehicle from the base being detected.

Details of the Incident

According to the Hebrew report, the truck disappeared about three weeks ago from the military base, in an incident that confused army leaders after the surveillance system failed to detect its movement or determine how it left the site.

The channel explained that the truck was later seen heading towards the settlement of “Netivot”, where Reserve Major General “Yossi Bachar” happened to be at the scene and began to personally pursue it.

Chase and Withdrawal of the Thief

According to the channel, Bachar’s pursuit of the thief prompted the latter to abandon the truck on the side of the road near Moshav Shufa and flee the scene before security forces arrived.

The occupation police have not yet revealed the identity of the suspect or the party that may be behind the incident.

Responses and Repercussions

Israeli military sources described the incident as “a security lapse that requires an urgent awakening within the army,” warning against the recurrence of such breaches that strike at the prestige of the military establishment and expose the fragility of security oversight.

For his part, the occupation army spokesman said that the military police are investigating the incident, noting that strict measures have been taken to enhance security around military bases located near Gaza.

New Loophole in the Army’s System

This incident is part of a series of security incidents witnessed by the occupation bases in recent months, including the thefts of weapons and ammunition from military warehouses, which raised widespread “Israeli” questions about the weakness of security discipline and the erosion of the control system within the occupation army, especially in light of the ongoing state of attrition on the fronts of Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen.
