Al-Youm Al-Thamen newspaper’s editor-in-chief escapes assassination attempt in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 11 (YPA) –  An editor-in-chief of the pro-Southern Transitional Council (STC) newspaper Al-Youm Al-Thamen survived a failed assassination attempt on Thursday in Aden city of south of Yemen.

Local sources affirmed that Saleh Abu Owdal, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper to the UAE-backed STC, and who hails from Abyan, was injured by an unknown assailant who attacked him with a piece of iron as he was leaving the Bahda building in the Rijal roundabout in the Khor-Maksar, a vital and crowded area of ​​the Aden city.

The sources clarified that the attacker managed to escape, representing a security setback in the coalition-controlled city, which has witnessed repeated assassinations and conflicts between parties loyal to the coalition and the STC itself. Abu Owdal is known for his opposition to Saudi intervention in southern Yemen.
