Israeli occupation forces abandon militias collaborating with them in Gaza

OCCUPIED QUDS, Oct. 09 (YPA) – Daniel Hagari, the former spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army, has issued controversial statements that include a clear disavowal of the local armed groups that cooperated with the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.

Hagari indicated that these militias “will not enter Israel and must face their fate alone.”

Sources circulating the statement quoted Hagari, who asserted that the Israeli army “did not force anyone to fight the Hamas movement, and they must bear the consequences of their decisions.” This was a clear reference to groups such as the “Abu Shabab” faction.

These statements constitute a formal disavowal of the responsibility to protect these groups or to receive their members inside the occupied territories, widely opening the door for questions about their future destiny.

Hagari’s remarks came at a time when talks about the imminent conclusion of a ceasefire agreement are escalating.

Observers suggest that this stance reflects a shift in the rhetoric of the Israeli military establishment towards its operational proxies inside the Strip, perhaps an attempt to mitigate internal and international criticism regarding the war management methods and its security and humanitarian repercussions.

The statements also emerge amidst indications of internal Israeli disagreements over the management of the security and humanitarian files in Gaza.
