One Palestinian dies due to famine in Gaza within 24 hours

GAZA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced, on Sunday, the recording of a new death in the past 24 hours as a result of famine and malnutrition, bringing the number of martyrs due to hunger to 460 people since the beginning of the Israeli aggression, including 154 children.

In a statement received by the media, the ministry said that 182 deaths have been recorded since the declaration of the advanced stage of famine (IPC), including 39 children, stressing that the health and humanitarian conditions in the Strip are deteriorating at an accelerating pace with the continuation of the Israeli blockade and the targeting of health infrastructure.

The Gaza Strip is witnessing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster after two years of ongoing Israeli aggression, which caused a near-total collapse of the health system and deprived hundreds of thousands of the most basic necessities of life, including food, potable water, and medical care, making rescuing the injured and malnourished extremely difficult.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) network had previously announced that large areas of northern Gaza had entered a state of complete famine, the most dangerous level of food insecurity, in light of the imposed blockade and the continued restrictions on the entry of aid.

About two million Palestinians in the besieged Strip are living in tragic conditions as a result of the double blockade and the targeting of humanitarian relief convoys, which has led to the spread of malnutrition and hunger-related diseases, at a time when hospitals are unable to provide the minimum medical services due to the severe shortage of medicines and supplies.

International organizations have warned that the number of deaths is likely to increase alarmingly, especially among children and infants, if urgent and safe food and medical aid is not brought in to all areas of the Strip without exception.
