SANAA, Oct. 04 (YPA) – London police arrested dozens of protesters for supporting a group that authorities have classified as “banned” due to its pro-Palestinian stance, during a demonstration on Saturday, despite calls to cancel it after a deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester.
Organizers of the demonstration, which was announced before the attack, rejected police and government calls to cancel it.
The demonstration was held to protest against the ban on the pro-Palestinian movement Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws.
Police arrested the protesters in Trafalgar Square in central London after they held up banners bearing slogans supporting Palestine Action, which was banned in July after its members stormed an airbase and damaged military aircraft.
Hundreds gathered for the protest in central London, where police began removing some without resistance, amid applause and cheers for the detainees. Some chanted “Shame on you” at the officers.
