SHABWA, Oct. 03 (YPA) – A tribesman from the Balharith tribe in Yemen’s Shabwa province has blown up a crude oil pipeline connecting the al-Nasr and Safer oilfields, which are under the control of UAE-backed factions.
Local sources identified the man as Saleh Mohammed al-Alam al-Harithi, who said he carried out the attack in protest against what he described as years of neglect by the company operating the oil field, which had ignored his rights-based demands for more than two years.
The incident is the latest in a series of protests that have been met with official indifference, pushing citizens to resort to extreme measures to have their voices heard.
Elsewhere in the region, armed clashes broke out near the Amal oil well, south of Usaylan district between tribal gunmen and UAE-backed Shabwa Defense Forces.
The gunmen managed to seize a military vehicle after forces had taken control of a tanker used for extracting crude diesel.
Shabwa province is facing escalating security chaos due to the absence of state authority and the weakness of its security apparatus, exposing essential infrastructure to increased risk.
