SANAA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – A fire broke out in a mosque in the Swedish city of Kalmar on Tuesday, causing extensive damage. Police have opened an investigation into suspicions that the fire was started deliberately.
Ulf Boen, emergency manager for the Hö Låtsfred district, where the mosque is located, said that the fire broke out at 2:00 a.m. local time and caused significant damage to the two-story wooden mosque.
In press statements, Boen explained that when firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was so intense that flames were coming out of the windows.
He added that the mosque was quickly rendered unusable due to the extensive damage.
No deaths or injuries were reported as a result of the incident, as no one was inside the mosque when the fire broke out.
Anadolu Agency’s correspondent reported that police have opened an investigation into suspicions that the fire was started deliberately.
