In video: Coalition authorities suppress teachers’ protest in Mukalla with dirty water

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The coalition authorities suppressed, on Tuesday, a teachers’ protest in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout Governorate, using tear gas.

The authorities used fire trucks to spray the protesting teachers with dirty water in an attempt to disperse them, but these trucks were not seen during the fires that broke out in the city.

Protests escalated in Mukalla following the kidnapping of the teachers’ union leaders, with protesters demanding the departure of the coalition governor, Mabkhout bin Madi, and chanting “Out! Out! Mabkhout!”

Hadramaut schools have witnessed a widespread strike by teachers who have been demanding improved living conditions since last August. They have also denounced the deterioration of services, power outages, the spread of financial and administrative corruption, and the looting of public funds.
