Massive demonstration organized in Kenya to reject Israeli crimes in Gaza

SANAA, Sept. 22 (YPA) – Thousands demonstrated in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, in support of Gaza and in rejection of the ongoing war of extermination waged by Israel against the Strip since October 7, 2023.

The demonstration began with a motorcade of motorcyclists and cars leading to Uhuru Park in the middle of Nairobi.

The demonstration was led by a number of Muslim scholars and imams, political leaders from across Kenya, civil society leaders, and thousands of Muslims and supporters of the Palestinian cause in general, all of whom expressed their solidarity with the Palestinians facing war, siege, and displacement.

Prominent among those in attendance were MP Hassan Omar, MP Farah Maalim, former Senator Bello Kiru and Chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, Abdullahi Abdi, and the Executive Director of Amnesty International Kenya, Irungu Houghton, along with several human rights groups.

Speakers said the demonstration was in protest against genocide and violations of international law by the Israeli occupation forces, and they urged the Kenyan government to show solidarity with the Palestinians.

The protesters emphasized that the Palestinian cause transcends religion, race, and nationality, describing it as an issue of human rights and dignity, and they urged people of all backgrounds to stand up against injustice and suffering.

The demonstration witnessed a fundraiser to provide medical supplies, food aid, and other necessities to the people of Gaza.

Participants also launched an environmental initiative to plant trees in memory of Palestinians martyred in the war.

Islamic organizations, schools, and mosques from across Kenya joined the fundraising campaign.
