3 police officers killed, 2 injured in shooting in US state of Pennsylvania

SANAA, Sept. 18 (YPA) – Pennsylvania State Police announced that three police officers were killed and two others were wounded in a shooting that occurred, on Wednesday, in the south of the state.

Authorities said that an investigation is underway in the town of North Codorus, located about 185 kilometers west of Philadelphia, near the Maryland border.

Earlier, York Hospital reported that two police officers were being treated in critical condition, confirming that heightened security protocols were in place inside the facility.

In a social media post, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis asked residents to “pray for the officers and those affected by the incident.”

A nearby school district announced shelter-in-place orders as a precaution, confirming that students were not in any immediate danger, while authorities closed several roads surrounding the scene.

Initial images from the scene show a large security cordon on a rural road surrounded by traditional farmhouses and red barns, as investigators continue to determine the circumstances of the shooting and the attacker’s motive.
