Israeli Army Radio: 20,000 wounded, thousands suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Israeli Army Radio reported that official data issued by the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of War of the occupation authorities indicates that the psychological and physical repercussions of the war on military personnel are worsening at an alarming rate.

In a report covering two years of military operations, the Israeli Army Radio revealed shocking figures reflecting the extent of losses among the occupation army, with the number of wounded currently receiving treatment reaching 20,000.

The radio indicates that the psychological impact, according to statistics, was deeper and more complex than the physical injuries. While 55% of the wounded suffer from psychological problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the data indicate that the path to recovery and return to normal life is the most difficult for this group.

The statistics demonstrate a significant difference in the ability of the wounded to return to work, whereas the percentage of those who returned to work among those physically injured reached 67%, while this percentage did not exceed 48% among those who were psychologically injured.

This wide gap reflects the significant challenges faced by the Rehabilitation Department in dealing with the psychological effects of war, which are often invisible but leave deep and long-lasting scars on individuals.

This data sheds light on the hidden dimensions of war, where the cost is not limited to lives and physical injuries, but also extends to include psychological deterioration affecting a wide segment of soldiers, raising questions about the effectiveness of the support and care programs provided to them.
