Iraq calls for forming “Islamic military alliance” to confront “Israel”

BAGHDAD, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani on Sunday called for the formation of an “Islamic military alliance” to counter what he described as the “danger of Israeli occupation.”

This statement comes amid expectations of activating the so-called “Arab NATO” during the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha.

In his speech, al-Sudani described the “Israeli aggression on Qatar” as a “shocking event” and a “violation of all international laws and norms,” considering it an “aggression against a brotherly country and a threat to the security of all countries in the region.” He noted that this aggression confirms the “aggressive approach of the criminal Israeli government.”

Al-Sudani called for the “declaration of a political, security, and economic alliance for Islamic countries,” suggesting the possibility of forming a “joint security force for defense.” He emphasized that Arab and Islamic nations possess powerful leverage that can be used to halt the “Israeli aggression, which will not stop at Qatar.”

The Iraqi prime minister concluded his remarks by asserting that the Israeli occupation has “disregarded everything” and that the events in Gaza over more than two years constitute “systematic killing.”
