Sanaa Foreign Ministry condemns Israeli entity’s targeting of civilians, affirms right to retaliate

SANAA, Sept. 13 (YPA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa sent an official letter on Saturday to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council.

The letter, which was circulated to all UN member states and relevant international organizations, contained a strong condemnation of the recent targeting by the Israeli entity of the capital, Sanaa, and Jawf province.

The letter, delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulwahed Abu Ras, stated that the attacks struck a media institution, a medical fuel station, and a government complex in residential areas. The initial toll stood at 46 martyrs and 165 injured, including journalists, children, and women. The ministry also noted that the bombing caused severe damage to citizens’ homes and the National Museum in Sanaa.

Call for International Action

The ministry in Sanaa described the crime as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law. It highlighted that this attack comes just two weeks after the Israeli entity targeted the head of the Change and Construction Government and several of his companions. The letter stressed that the Israeli entity is trying to mislead the international community by claiming to target military objectives while continuing its aggression against civilians and vital facilities since July 20, 2024.

Continued Resistance and Affirmation of Position

The letter affirmed that the Republic of Yemen will continue to exercise its right to self-defense, a right guaranteed by the UN Charter. It also held the United States accountable as a partner in these crimes through its continuous support for the Israeli entity.

The ministry renewed its call for the international community to act urgently and compel the Israeli entity to stop its aggression against Gaza, Yemen, and the rest of the region. It pointed out that international silence gives the Israeli entity a green light to continue its “rampage” and destroy any remaining trust in international institutions and laws.

The letter concluded by reaffirming Yemen’s steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people until the aggression and siege on Gaza, which has lasted for more than 700 days, are brought to an end.
