Senior official survives assassination attempt in Aden

ADEN, July 30 (YPA) – A Senior official in Bin Dagher’s authority on Sunday night survived an assassination attempt in Yemen’s Aden, the southern province, local sources told Yemen Press Agency on Monday.

The sources said that unknown gunmen fired bullets towards the Deputy of higher education for the mission sector and international cooperation while he was going out from Bajunid mosque in the city of Aden.

The gunmen shot at his car in the city, injuring one of his escorts during the incident, while Dr. Mazen Al-Jafri survived.

The gunmen clashed with other armed men in the same area which lead to thwart the assassination attempts, the sources said. ‘

The same sources indicated that unidentified gunmen planted explosive device under Al- Al-Jafri’s car but was discovered and dismantled.

Earlier, Unknown gunmen assassinated an intelligence officer in the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Sunday evening.

Aden witnessed a wave of assassinations which targeted a number of military, security leaders and clerics, including imams and mosque preachers amid the spread of armed groups of al-Qaeda and Daesh.
