Gaza death toll reaches 62,122 amid ongoing Israeli genocide on Palestinians

GAZA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – The number of Palestinians martyred in Israeli occupation’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has mounted to 62,122, the Gaza-based Health Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the ministry’s daily update, 58 residents were killed in the last 24 hours, with two bodies recovered from the rubble. Another 185 others were injured, bringing the total number of injuries to 156,758, since the occupation began its aggression in October 2023.

The statement added that the death toll from the Israeli genocide had risen to 62,122 martyrs and 156,758 injuries since October 7, 2023, noting that the death toll and injuries since March 18, 2025, had reached 10,576 martyrs and 44,717 injuries.

It also reported 22 new deaths from starvation and malnutrition, bringing the total number of famine-related deaths to 2,018, including children.

Since May 27, the occupation forces have killed 1,924 Palestinians and injured 14,288 others while they were trying to reach needed food and supplies.
